GOVERNMENT HOUSE.

HONGKONG 18th. Hay, 1914.

I have the honour to request your sanction to

make certain changes in the salaries of the Sanitary Inspectors

next year with a view to obtaining uniformity as proposed by Sir

H. Nathan in paragraph 5 of his Confidential Despatch of the 5th. of August, 1905.

your predecessor's Despatch Confidential of the 11th. September,

Class II 165 to £225

the First Class Inspectors as they have all reached their maximm. On the occurrence of vacancies the salary of the Class will be fix- -ed at the approved rate of £240 to £270.

4.

Among the Second Class Inspectors the first three have reached their maximum and their successors will draw the salary proposed £165 to £225. I recommend that Messrs. Pearson and Kelly should draw salaries of £225 from the 1st. of January, 1915, involving an extra cost of £20. I also recommend that all the
